Press Conference

"Mr President, do you have any thoughts to offer on the tragic deaths
of the three Brazilian contractors who were killed in the series of
suicide bombers in Iraq yesterday?"

Bush stops dead in his tracks. His face grows pale, his mouth drops
open a little bit, and he just stares at the reporter. After an
increasingly uncomfortable thirty seconds during which sweat can be
seen breaking out on the President's brow, the reporter asks, "Sir? Mr
President, are you all right?"

The President snaps out of his daze and says, "Uhh... yes, I'm fine.
But, uhh... how many, exactly, is a brazillion?"

Bush Plea to Rebuild Iraq Raises $600

An extraordinary appeal to Americans from the Bush administration for money to help pay for the reconstruction of Iraq has raised only $600 (£337), The Observer has learnt. Yet since the appeal was launched earlier this month, donations to rebuild New Orleans have attracted hundreds of millions of dollars.
The public's reluctance to contribute much more than the cost of two iPods to the administration's attempt to offer citizens 'a further stake in building a free and prosperous Iraq' has been seized on by critics as evidence of growing ambivalence over that country.
